A homeowner from South West Florida decided to try the new AirBnB wave and offer one of the rooms in his place for rent to tourists to make some extra cash. His apartment was conveniently located, walking distance from public transportation access, surrounded by lush golf courses, and popular tourist attractions— as convenient as any tourist could hope for. To top it off, it had a killer view of the glimmering Gulf of Mexico. What else could one ask for? To make it more appealing to potential renters, he decided to offer the room with an en suite bathroom. However, when he was arranging the room, he realized the shower looked a bit dingy. He tried to fix the problem himself to no avail. After a whole day of cleaning, he had had it, so he searched online for a solution. That is when he came across our Cape Coral grout sealing company. He gave us a call and we set up a date to carry out a free evaluation and a quote.

On the day of the evaluation, we assessed the situation and explained to him that the reason he could not get the shower to look better was because the grout had been colonized by mold and mildew. These microorganisms stain the grout and even if you are able to get rid of them, without the help of professional grout cleaners, the stains they leave behind are hard to remove.

To get rid of the problematic mold, we started by using our proprietary tile and grout cleaner combined with a gentle, high-speed scrubber to remove all the soap scum and mold and mildew buildup. After that, we used a steam cleaner to clean all the surfaces more deeply and make sure all grime was removed. The grout was in good condition so no repairs were necessary and we proceeded to apply ColorSeal, another one of our proprietary products, on all the grout lines to make the color even and protect the surfaces from stains and mold and mildew re-growth. We then buffed on Tile Armor over the entire shower. Tile Armor is a clear tile and grout protector that further shields the surfaces against grime and is safe for pets and people.

We explained that if he was going to have frequent guests at his place, he needed to maintain the area as clean as possible and the best way to do this was to use a pH-neutral, soap-free cleaner to clean the shower. We also advised him not to let the shower air dry after cleaning it, to make sure there was no cleaner or water left. This may sound like a lot of maintenance, after all it is simply a shower, but residual cleaners help dust settle on the grout crevices and make it look dirty again. Also, the shower should be well ventilated to prevent the damp environment that makes mold and mildew thrive. We told him that if he followed these simple tips, he would see the value of his investment last for a long time and his guests would be pleased to find a pristine bathroom. He was very happy with the work and the recommendations we gave him and thanked us for an excellent service.
