Most people don't realize that while soap is associated with cleanliness, there are circumstances when it can cause stains. These stains are known as soap scum. Completely unaware of this, a young man who'd recently left home to live on his own, began to see stains in his shower. He had no idea his cleaning products were to blame. Fortunately, he contacted Sir Grout SW Florida and our top-of-the-line Bonita Springs grout cleaning service, plus a couple of care and maintenance tips, were enough to leave his shower spotless and in good condition again.

Before and after Picture of How Our Bonita Springs Grout Cleaning Team Helped to Recover This Shower from Damage of Common Cleaners
This all took place recently, after this young man moved away from his folk's place and was faced with assuming all the household chores himself. He diligently cleaned his small apartment at least once a week because he wanted his new place to look impeccable. After a while, he began to notice his shower looking a bit dingy. The tiles along the floor and walls were slowly beginning to stain, and dirt had begun to accumulate between the tiles.

Not knowing the cause of the problem, the man called home for advice. His parents recommended changing his cleaning methods and cleaners to see if he would get a different result. He took their advice and bought some common cleaning products from the market, trying them out one at a time. None of them were very effective. A couple of even made things worse. That's when he decided to look online for a solution.

After a quick Google search, he stumbled upon our website. He found lots of interesting information about hard surface restoration, as well as some care and maintenance tips. He also found a number he could call to book a free in-home appointment for our team of experts to assess his situation. He contacted us and booked the next available date.

Sir Grout SW Florida's In-home Evaluation

That same week, our hard surface restoration experts showed up at the young man's apartment to see how they could help. They quickly headed to the shower to inspect the tile surface. Upon first glance, our experts could tell the young man had been using soap-based cleaning products that left a sticky residue that can attract and accumulate dirt.

To address this situation, our experts proposed cleaning the entire tile surface and grout lines using our very own pH neutral cleaner. Sir Grout's Natural Hard Surface Cleaner cleans tile surfaces without leaving any soapy residue. Finally, epoxy ColorSeal would be applied to restore the discolored and damaged grout and give it added protection because this special sealant is better suited to endure the damp conditions of a shower.

Happy with our assessment and relieved we were able to find the cause of his problem and a solution, the young man scheduled a date for the restoration service to take place.

The Restoration Process

A couple of days later, our crew was back at the young man's home to get the job underway. In a couple of minutes, they had the whole area prepped and started pouring Sir Grout's Natural Hard Surface Cleaner all over the tile surface. They let it sit a while to allow it to start working. Once the grime had loosened, the crew proceeded to remove it with the use of a high-speed scrubber and vapor steam cleaner.

When the shower was fully clean, our technicians applied epoxy ColorSeal all over the grout lines. This special sealant stands out from the rest because it's made of one-part epoxy. This makes it much thicker and less porous, thus waterproof and more durable in damp areas such as tubs, showers, sinks, and even pools. It also adds a layer of sealant that gives the grout lines a uniform look all over the tile surface and makes it a lot easier to clean.

The Results

Just as our crew was performing the final touches, they invited the customer in to see the results. He was pleased with the outcome and confessed that the job indeed exceeded his expectations. The young man also seized the opportunity to ask our experts if they could give him a couple of pointers on how to prevent soap from ruining his shower in the future.

As requested, our experts sat down and shared a couple of care and maintenance tips with the young man. They advised using pH neutral cleaners, such as Sir Grout's Natural Hard Surface Cleaner. A product such as this cleans your tile surfaces without damaging the grout. It also doesn't leave a sticky residue. We recommended switching from bar soap to liquid or gel body soap to prevent soap scum.
