Cleaning the shower is one of the most time-consuming household chores. For this reason, most people tend to neglect this task. However, failing to give your shower proper maintenance can result in serious problems. While it's true that most tile materials can stand the wear and tear caused by daily showers, the same cannot be said about grout. The grout lines between the tiles are porous, which means they're prone to absorbing water and other external agents like dirt and soap. Not only does this give the grout lines a run-down appearance, it can also compromise the integrity of your surfaces.

Before and after Picture or This Shower with a New Appearance after a Grout Cleaning Job in Naples, FL
A Port Royal resident in Naples, FL didn't have enough time to keep the house's guest room properly maintained. The room hadn't been used in a while, but his parents planned to visit him soon. While he prepared the room to make it more welcoming, he entered the bathroom and noticed the shower's grout lines were dirty. He tried using several DIY methods and over-the-counter products to clean the grout, but none of them worked. Frustrated, the homeowner concluded the best option was looking for professional help. He went online and searched for grout cleaning services in Naples, FL and found Sir Grout SW Florida within the top results. After seeing all the positive feedback we had received over the years, he decided to fill out the form at the bottom of this page to request a free evaluation and a quote.

On the scheduled day, we arrived at the client's home to assess the shower. After introducing ourselves to the homeowner, we were ready to begin the process. We noticed the problems at first glance. The floor was dingy, and the grout lines were filled with grime. The caulk on the shower's joints had been overcome with mold and mildew. Not only were these problems caused by the lack of proper maintenance, the shower enclosure also had very little ventilation, promoting the growth of mold and mildew.

We pointed out the potential hazards of having the bathroom in such a state. We told the homeowner that prolonged exposure to mold spores can cause health problems. Additionally, worn out fixtures could potentially lead to structural damage. Luckily, it was nothing we couldn't fix. Concerned about the well-being of the shower's surfaces, the client asked if we could do anything to help him ease the maintenance of the shower.

We told him that the best way to ensure the shower remained in top condition was taking preventive measures. In this case, we offered the client a grout cleaning service, followed by a multi-stage sealing procedure using our proprietary products. He was glad we could take care of the problem, so he agreed to our proposal.

A few days later, we returned to the customer's house to perform the service. First, we cleaned the shower's floor and walls using our tile and grout cleaner in conjunction with a high-speed scrubber to remove the grime from the tiles and grout lines. This cleaner also contains ingredients that can help eradicate mold and prevents its growth. We also used a steam cleaner on the shower's joints to ensure the mold and mildew were completely removed. After that, we scraped out the damaged caulk and replaced with Stainmaster, our own brand of epoxy grout. This type of grout is designed to withstand high levels of humidity. It's also non-porous, which makes it a difficult target for harmful organic growths like mold.

Next, we performed the necessary repairs on the shower's grout before applying our flagship sealants. First, we sealed the grout lines on the walls with ColorSeal. This acrylic-based sealant closes off the grout's pores and prevents it from absorbing dangerous external agents. Once we finished sealing the wall's fixtures, we sealed the floor using epoxy ColorSeal. This epoxy-based sealant is similar to our acrylic-based mix, but it's specially made for surfaces that regularly come into contact with water.

When we finished, the shower looked pristine. The dingy fixtures had disappeared and the expansion joints were free from mold and mildew. We invited the owner to see the results and when he saw them, he was speechless. After thanking us, he mentioned that he would recommend our services to his friends and family.

While it's true that ColorSeal and its variations are designed to last as long as the grout, it's still necessary to give the shower's proper maintenance to ensure long term results. For this reason, we gave the client some tips before left his home. First, we recommended staying away from DIY cleaning methods and store-bought products. More often than not, these cleaners contain harmful substances which can further deteriorate tile and grout. To keep the shower looking great, we advised the customer to clean it once a week using a pH-neutral cleaner like Sir Grout's Natural Hard Surface Cleaner. Second, we suggested wiping away excess water with a dry cloth after every shower to prevent mold growth.
